Tuesday was another chapter in the Brett Favre retirement saga. Favre met up with three close friends on the Vikings, defensive end Jared Allen, Kicker Ryan Longwell and guard Steve Hutchinson in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The three flew back to Minnesota, with Favre.
Once news broke of the meeting and the flight, there was a media storm.
There will be an official statement released Wednesday but Hutchinson has told the NFL Network that Favre will be coming back.
"We told him how much all the guys loved playing with him and that we would love to do it again," Hutchinson told Rich Eisen. "We also told him that if he didn't want to do it, then congratulations, you deserve it. You've had an incredible career, but we've got to know one way or another."
Favre told the three that he enjoyed his time with the Vikings and afterwards said, “OK, let’s do this.”
The official press conference will be after practice Wednesday in which Favre will announce is coming back for another season. But you have to take all Favre news with a bit of caution as we have heard faulty reports before. A while back, we heard that Favre sent text messages to his teammates stating that he would retire. That report proved to be inaccurate. But with Favre flying into Minnesota, this should be the end to this summer's Favre retirement story.
One thing is for certain though: If he does return, we’ll know that ‘Favre Watch 2011’ will be a guarantee. |
