The Green Bay Packers still intend to offer legendary quarterback Brett Favre a marketing agreement, but want to wait until both sides can move beyond any hurt feelings.
Favre, who retired in February after one year with the New York Jets, spent 16 seasons with the Packers before his messy break last summer led to hard feelings by Favre toward Packers’ general manager Ted Thompson.
Prior to the trade, the team had offered Favre a $2 million-a-year, 10-year marketing agreement, under which he would perform a variety of team activities with corporate sponsors and advertisers.
Packers president Mark Murphy said the team wanted “a long-term relationship” with Favre. A new deal would likely include different terms. |
