Make-A-Wish Foundation® & Favre 4 Hope Foundation grant wish of Andrew Stangl to meet Brett Favre
Fifteen year old Andrew Stangl was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at an early age, but his love of sports and his favorite quarterback have helped him learn how to live with his illness.
When Andrew was referred to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, he knew exactly what his wish would be… to meet his idol, Brett Favre. Andrew said that the reason he wanted to meet Favre was that he is the “best” quarterback & that he really means a lot to him. Andrew said “ I have grown up with him since I was little” and pulled for him every place he played but what he really likes is that he would always still play – even when he was hurt so that gave him the courage to take on each day.
Recently, Andrew’s wish came true when he and his family flew to Mississippi to meet Favre. Andrew was thrilled to learn that he was flying to Mississippi where his hero was from and was hoping that this may mean that his wish was coming true. He was all smiles when he turned around to see the star in person. Andrew says he is Favre’s biggest fan, knowing every statistic but the teenager suddenly became speechless and awestruck, but the two spent great times talking and hanging out. Andrew’s wish was truly a special experience and a memory that he and his family will treasure forever but to put it in his words “this was the coolest!"
